plodes® studio | Reactions are micro vectorized field photos that document fantastically unique patterns and colors that only appear momentarily on the surface of our steel fire pit sculptures during the patina process phase of their fabrication.
Each digital photo is algorithmically reproduced by replacing ordinary pixels with a network of vector-based polygons. We emulated polycrystal like structures such as the flaky patterns of sheet metal galvanization or the microscopic grain view of steel itself. This transformation enables Reactions to be independent of resolution or scale and encourages infinite abstract micro views and experiences by zooming/panning within each piece.
Overall, the resulting collection of visualizations are otherworldly, abstract, and seemingly AI generative; but these moments are products of circumstance, chemistry, and documentation of real-world conditions. Reactions were born from the existence of our established steel fire pit sculptures and production processes. Now they ultimately have their own platform for others to enjoy and explore with more permanence.
Although each Reaction is completely original; shared patterns and properties have emerged, are present, and are identified. These defined ‘reaction properties’, along with dates, file names, and capture devices inform the rarity. Reactions are currently at 134 expressly individual pieces and are offered both as a vector PDF and a hi-res 300dpi JPG file.

Galvanized sheet metal’s flake texture was the structure type that was algorithmically emulated to reprocess the field images vectorially on a micro scale.
This intended close/micro view distance shows the polygon abstraction of custom views from zooming and panning within each piece using capable viewers. PDF viewers such as Adobe’s Acrobat have pan/zoom and can also print/save a current view in vector or image formats. We intend for our patrons to explore, experience, and export views from the micro scale. Find a color pallet view to match your PFPs and make a background or simply save out your own artful views!
