This customizable prefab beach house concept was conceived following the devastation that Hurricane Ike imposed on Texas’s Bolivar Peninsula. 99.5% of structures in Gilchrist, Texas disappeared. A more resistant and economical solution was explored. ISBUs, or shipping containers, were chosen as the exterior shell for their rugged contiguous construction, economics of prefabrication, and vernacular of coastal industry. The program is implemented within an arrangement of ISBUs in 1, 2, 3, or 4 unit organizations. The offset and stacked composition creates spaces for entry, outdoor decks, and beautiful views.
