VA Lobby Memorial- 'Service' (3)
‘Service’ is a proposal for an ever expanding memorial for Veterans informed by awarded decoration ribbons that define service and campaigns for all branches of the military. ‘Service’ becomes an abstract graphic timeline of US military campaigns of years past and present. Proportions of the original ribbons are consolidated and continue next to one another without any definition, which creates one continuous ribbon that represents the service of all of our US Veterans in all branches. UH Fleming Lab Sculpture- 'H2O' (3)
‘H2O’ is an outdoor sculpture proposed for the exterior of a pending new Teaching Laboratory at the University of Houston’s Main Campus adjacent to the future Cougar Way. ‘H2O’ is an oversized sculptural model of a water molecule and represents an overlap of both the chemical and biological fields that the building services. The installation becomes a playful exterior draw and icon for the building while its scale is engaging and suggestively personified. ‘H2O’ was proposed as a cost effective solution fabricated of precast concrete, but could easily lend itself to more traditional outdoor sculpture materials such as metal.
