206-208 WEST TEXAS AVENUE

A new façade for a small commercial retail building with two addresses along Baytown, Texas’ historic downtown on West Texas Avenue. The area has recently been redistricted by the city as an Arts, Cultural, and Entertainment (ACE) district to help bolster redevelopment along the avenue. This particular building was originally built in 1925 as a movie theater named the ‘Texan’. Our approach was minimal yet concise. Elements typical of a historic theater are subtly referenced such as symmetry, building as billboard, and movement.
